Turning a Before into an After
Do you know the Property Brothers? Who doesn't, right? We love them in our house. Even our 2 1/2 year old is into them. "I'm building a house mommy" he says as he swings his toy hammer ALL over our house. He's gotten a hold of a real one a few times as well, but thats a whole different post. Brad and I don't swing any hammers ourselves, but we love seeing a home transform from outdated and ugly to a dream home.
Over the past few years, we have started renovating homes as a investments. We started with our own home about 8 years ago and over the course of about 4 years, we renovated the entire house- room by room and floor by floor. It was great and in the end, we had a gorgeous, fully updated home. We realized we were maybe on to something. We really loved the process AND it ended up being an awesome investment. We made it a goal that eventually we'd like to make renovations a larger part of our jobs/lives-- and flash forward a few years, we did!
Since we have experience in our own renovations, we've started helping our clients do the same thing- turning the before house into an after house (Property Spouses coming soon to HGTV). We love to look for the potential in a house that so many people have passed on. For anyone who cares about cabinet color, countertop choices-- and even space layout-- a home renovation project may be the right fit. What most people don't realize is that it is pretty easy. You can finance the whole project with as little as 5% down and work with a great contractor to do all of the work.
